Faculty of Architecture, in cooperation with the Historical Society, has organized a heritage walk around the walls of the old city of Homs to highlight the historical and architectural value of the remaining important landmarks in the city and strengthening students’ connection with the local architectural heritage.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Fifth-year students and a number of persons interested in Homs heritage started the walk from the Faculty of Architecture and later moved to the old city, listening to scientific and architectural explanations presented by specialists from the faculty and the historical society about the architectural characteristics of the old city and its role in shaping its urban identity. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has emphasized that the university gives particular attention to to enhancing cultural and historical awareness among students, noting that this type of field activity reflects the university\u2019s commitment to its societal role in preserving the city\u2019s cultural identity. <\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Dean of the Faculty of Architecture, Prof. Abdul Rahman Hamdoun, has explained that the event comes within the faculty\u2019s vision to enhance field interaction between students and the heritage urban fabric, stressing that the walk constitutes an integrated educational experience that allows students to link theoretical knowledge with practical application, and promote their awareness of the importance of protecting and preserving heritage for future generations. <\/p>\n

Prof. Hamdoun has pointed out that the walls of the old city of Homs represent a living testament to the development of the city throughout the ages, and are among the most prominent landmarks that deserve to be studied and documented because of the historical and architectural symbolism they carry, which reflects the spirit and memory of the place <\/p>\n

This activity is part of a series of initiatives implemented by Homs University in cooperation with local cultural institutions with the aim of promoting heritage awareness among students and encouraging them to engage in projects to preserve the historical identity of the city, thereby consolidating the values \u200b\u200bof belonging and active citizenship. <\/p>\n
