In the presence of the university president, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, representing the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the events of Al-Wadi Conference for Syrian Doctors in Homeland and Abroad were launched at Wadi International University, with broad academic and official participation of researchers and doctors from different Syrian governorates, Syrian doctors from expatriate countries, members of teaching staff, and representatives of cooperating and supporting bodies and health institutions. The events were carried out to emphasize the importance of enhancing scientific and medical cooperation and exchange expertise between Syrian competencies inside and outside the homeland.
\nProf. Houssam ElDeen stressed in his opening remarks that the conference embodies the significance of communication among Syrian medical professionals, indicating the pivotal role of scientific conferences in exchanging expertise, keeping update with medical developments, and enhancing scientific research in a way that serves community and health sector. In addition, he confirmed the necessity of partnership between universities and health institutions and their role in supporting innovation and developing medical education and improving professional practice.
\nThe conference lasts for three days, and includes a scientific program covering a number of medical specialties.
\nThree scientific sessions including 22 scientific lectures have been held at the first day.
\nThe first day featured three scientific sessions comprising 22 scientific lectures. The first session focused on preventive medicine and public health, covering topics such as histological diagnosis, prevention of eye diseases and blindness, prevention in patients with Down syndrome, the role of nutrition in disease prevention, prevention of cardiovascular diseases, nutrition related to gut flora, and concepts of healthy living and quality of life.
\nThe second session addressed the themes of prevention and community health, including prevention of spinal pain, early detection of cervical cancer, child health during the golden thousand days, lead poisoning, controlling hospital-acquired infections, community partnership in promoting health, creating a healing environment in intensive care units, and the role of architectural design and therapeutic spaces in improving healthcare.
\nAs for the third session, it was dedicated to oral and maxillofacial surgery, addressing developments in face transplantation, the risks of indiscriminate use of bite-raising appliance in temporomandibular disorders, in addition to presenting clinical cases that demonstrated the role of the pathological anatomy report in changing the treatment plan.
\nThe first day’s events also included the opening of a medical exhibition with the participation of several companies and medical organizations. The conference concludes on Saturday with participating physicians receiving patients at the Al-Ghasani Clinic, where they will provide consultations and medical examinations within their specialties, from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
