On the occasion of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and in cooperation with the Al-Raja Association for Persons with Disabilities, the Faculty of Health Sciences at Homs University organized a social event titled “Disability: From Disability to Ability” The event featured theatrical performances and inspiring stories of individuals who have overcome challenges, alongside an exhibition of handicrafts produced by persons with disabilities.
\nThe University President, Prof. Tarek Hossam ElDeen, emphasized the importance of reinforcing the university\u2019s role in community service, raising awareness of issues concerning people with determination, and highlighting their talents and creativity to support their integration and active participation in society.
\nFor his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Salah Ghazi, noted that the event aims to highlight the role of the faculty’s disciplines in serving the community and to raise public awareness about disability issues and the importance of inclusion in all walks of life. He stressed that a person’s value is measured by what they contribute to society, and that providing them with opportunities helps bring out their full capabilities and potential.
\nFor his part, Mr. Mohammed Basel Al-Hussami, Director of the Al-Raja Association for People with Disabilities, emphasized the importance of empowering people with disabilities and promoting their active participation in society. He pointed out that every person possesses abilities worthy of discovery and development, which preserves their dignity and strengthens their role in community life. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation between academic institutions and associations in raising awareness about disability, supporting people with disabilities, and empowering them.
