In line with its commitment to strengthening community partnerships and promoting sustainability, Homs University launched a student-led environmental initiative entitled “Today’s Planting… Tomorrow’s Climate,” in collaboration with the Violet Organization. The initiative aims to raise environmental awareness and encourage sustainable practices on campus.
The President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, emphasized that this initiative encourages students to participate effectively in environmental protection, based on the belief that change starts with a small step and that investing in the environment today is a real investment in the future. He noted that the university seeks through these activities to improve the campus environment, promote a culture of cleanliness, and increase green spaces.
For her part, Ms. Ward Al-Ahmed, the community project officer at the organization, stated that a series of field environmental activities has been carried out at the university. The initiative includes a comprehensive cleanup campaign at key locations, the installation of over 20 waste bins along main roads and pathways, and the establishment of an agricultural nursery next to the Faculty of Agriculture, aiming to build a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable university campus.
This initiative comes as part of a shared vision under the slogan: “Together we make an impact today… for a better climate tomorrow “.
