Faculty of Informatics Engineering
The Faculty of Informatics Engineering was established by the legislative decree No. 65 of 2000, joined by the second and third year students of the Department of Informatics of the Faculty of Science as well as the second year students of the Department of Computer Science of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering. The first batch of engineers graduated in 2003.
Faculty of Architecture
The Faculty of Civil and Architectural Engineering was established by the legislative decree No. 44 of 1979, which included the establishment of Homs University. In the academic year 1985, the Department of Architecture became an independent faculty known as the Faculty of Architecture.
Faculty of Civil Engineering
The Faculty of Civil Engineering was established by the decree No. 44 of 1979 establishing Homs University. The faculty aims to prepare and qualify students as specialized engineers in various civil engineering disciplines, and to promote and participate in scientific research and various studies.
Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering
The Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at Homs University was established by the decree No. 44 of 1977. It was inaugurated at the beginning of the academic year 1995-1996, and the study began in a building of the Ministry of Education. At the beginning of the academic year 2000-2001, it temporarily moved to the building of the Faculty of Science. Now it relocated to the new building of the faculty with a total built-up area of 50,000 m2. In the academic year 2002-2003, new specializations were introduced to the faculty are energy, electron, automatic control, forces, production, mechatronics, and metals.
Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering
The Higher Institute of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering was established by the decree No. 2021 dated 5/25/1973 and was then affiliated with the Ministry of Higher Education, after the issuance of decree No. 44 dated 9/14/1979, which stipulated the establishment of Homs University. The Higher Institute became a faculty of Al-Baath University, named Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering located in Deir Baalbah, and then relocated in its current location within the campus of Homs University
Applied Faculty
Decree No. /292/ dated 8/10/2017 included the establishment of an applied faculty in the city of Homs, affiliated with Homs University. It was opened in the academic year 2018-2019. The applied faculty accepts students holding scientific and vocational secondary school certificate, as holders of vocational secondary school certificate constitute 75% of those admitted to the faculty. Graduates of applied faculties may be appointed by a decision of the Prime Minister, in accordance with the needs of the ministries, for a vacancy that is legally added.
Faculty of Medicine
The Faculty of Medicine was established by the Decree No. 44 of 1979 in Homs and inaugurated in 1996. The number of students enrolled in the current year is 1850. The faculty is situated on the university campus and is equipped with the necessary facilities and laboratories to meet the students’ academic, teaching, and research needs. It also includes several lecture halls and classrooms to accommodate all the faculty’s activities.
Faculty of Pharmacy
The Faculty of Pharmacy was opened during the academic year 1999-2000 and graduated the first batch of its students in 2004-2005. It aims to prepare and qualify pharmacists in all disciplines and pharmaceutical professions and to advance graduate studies and scientific research that contribute to the advancement of pharmaceutical sciences
Faculty of Health Sciences
The Faculty of Health Science was established in 2005 by the legislative decree No. 274 of 30/1/2005.This faculty which is one of its kind in the Syrian Arab Republic was opened to provide trained cadres who possess board skills, especially in scientific fields, that meet the needs of the labor market in various specializations: Department of Physical Therapy, Department of Nutrition, Department of Laboratory Science.
Faculty of Arts and Humanities
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities at Homs University was established by the legislative decree No. 2109 dated October 25, 1982, and is located in the city of Homs. The faculty moved to a new building within the university campus, which consists of seven blocks,and includes the following departments: Arabic Language Department, English Language Department, French Language Department, and History Department.
Faculty of Education
The Faculty of Education at Homs University was opened in 1997. It is located within the university campus in the city of Homs. The educational cadre consists of 87 faculty members., and the faculty comprises the following departments: Department of Psychological Counseling – Department of Curricula and Teaching Methods – Department of Child Education
Faculty of Music Education
The Faculty of Music Education was establish by the legislative decree No. 153 of April 16, 2006 and opened in the academic year 2004/2005. Accordingly, work was carried out in two phases to equip a wing dedicated to the faculty’s laboratories, comprising 16 individual training labs, a computer lab, a group training lab, and a lecture hall. All work on the wing was completed on July 14, 2005. The third phase of the laboratories wing, which includes 20 individual training rooms, was completed and inaugurated on December 12, 2007.
Faculty of Science
The Faculty of Science was established as an educational unit located in the city of Homs, affiliated with Damascus University, by the legislative decree No. 1262 dated 30/7/1977, and by the legislative decree No. 44 dated 14/9/1979, which established Homs University. The Faculty of Science was considered one of the main faculties of Homs University and consists of: Department of Mathematics – Department of Mathematical Statistics – Department of Physics – Department of Chemistry – Department of Biology – Department of Geology
College of Science (Palmyra)
The second Faculty of Sciences in Palmyra, affiliated with Homs University, was established bythe legislative decree No. 283 dated July 7, 2010. Since its establishment, the second Faculty of Sciences in Palmyra has maintained its cultural role in disseminating science and knowledge and keeping pace with development and modernization in curricula. It consists of: Department of Mathematics – Department of Chemistry
