Al Baath University honored the winning team in the scientific competition that took place during the Arab Chemistry Week in Damascus. It was titled “Chemistry in the service of community and environment”, and the celebration was organised by the Faculty of Science at Damascus University, in cooperation with the National Union of Syrian Students, Damascus Petrochemical Refinery Company, and many companies specialized in the chemical sector and economic activities .
President of Al Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, indicated that the participation of Al Baath University students in the celebration is the first result of the agreement signed between the university and Damascus Petrochemical Refinery Company, pointing out that the university is proud of the distinguished students whose superiority is remarkable, especially that the chemistry is not just science but it is a reality that we live and experience in all the activities of living organisms. He added that the faculties of science in all Syrian universities have continued, since their establishment, their cultural role in spreading science and keeping pace with development by qualifying students and providing them with a high level of knowledge and preparing specialists in various fields of basic sciences, which has helped various productive, educational and research institutions to reconstruct beloved Syria.
Head of the branch of Syrian Chemical Society in Homs, Prof. Rushdi Madwar, stressed the importance of the participation of fourth-year students in the celebratory which contributed to the exchange of knowledge and experiences with Damascus University students and all participating parties and created an atmosphere of scientific rivalry that motivated them to acquire more knowledge in chemistry
.
Al Baath University team of 8 students indicated to the importance of the competition that gave them the opportunity to learn new information and knowledge about chemistry and encouraged them to continue their research and educational attainment, wishing the organisation of more such events to support students.
Al Baath University team participating in the competition included the trainers: Prof. Rushdi Madwar – Prof. Saba Nassif – Prof. Hazar Al Qaseer, and the students: Yasser Rahma – Haneen Salmon – Aya Al Mulhim – Muhammad Nour Al Najjar – Sahar Zein – Ashwaq Jadoua – Salma Al Aytoun – Muhammad Sheikh Ali.
Damascus Petrochemical Refinery Company provided an amount of 200,000 Syrian pounds to each winning student from Al Baath University.
In addition, the presidency of Al-Baath University also honored the companies and institutions supporting the training course “Dyeing Process Technologies,” which was held in cooperation with Homs Chamber of Industry, Homs branch of the Syrian Chemical Society, and the Mastrade Foundation in the Faculty of Science, in the period between 20-30-2023.
The honoring ceremony was attended by the university vice-presidents, Prof. Maan Salameh and Prof. Ahmed Muhanna, the university secretary, Prof. Fadi Murshid, the deans of the faculties of science and chemical and petroleum engineering, and representatives of supporting companies and institutions.
