As part of its ongoing efforts to promote health awareness between students and academic community, the Faculty of Pharmacy has organized in cooperation with Afak Alkhair Foundation a scientific symposium on the mental health and addiction between awareness and recovery”
During the symposium, Dr. Abdul Aziz Al-Abdo, Medical Director of the Hope Center in Afrin, has given a lecture on the mental health and the effects of substance abuse, stressing the importance of raising community awareness of this issue. He has also reviewed the concept of mental health, the nature of mental illnesses and their symptoms, and presented examples of some mental disorders, emphasizing the need to intensify efforts for confronting this dangerous phenomenon that threatens society. For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy at Homs University, Prof. Walid Khaddam, has emphasized the importance of this event in raising youth awareness of critical health issues. In addition, he praised the participation of a number of experienced professors from outside the university, which contributes to transferring knowledge to the new generation. He has pointed out that it is a first step in paving the way for future projects aimed at enhancing cooperation, through organizing scientific lectures, exchanging professional expertise, and carrying out field visits to specialized centers that provide these services.
At the end of the symposium, attendees have expressed their appreciation for the rich scientific content, acknowledging the university’s efforts in organizing this event, which contributes to raising community awareness and consolidating its role as an effective academic institution in addressing influential health issues.
