President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, and the vice-president, Prof. Muhammed Al Masri, welcomed a delegation from Japan Syria Friendship Association, that included the founder of the association and the one official in Tokyo, Dr. Muhammed Shihab , and the president of the association, Dr. Mahmoud Ayyoub, to discuss the scientific and cultural cooperation relations and the possibility of signing an official cooperation agreement.
They also reviewed the ways to enhance cooperation in several areas. Most notably:
Exchange of scholarships for the master’s and doctoral degrees, academic visits, and participation in the scientific conferences, with the support of governments, non-governmental and private sectors in both countries.
– Facilitating the holding of scientific courses provided by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and Japanese non-profit organizations, contributing to the development of academic and technical skills.
– Discussing the possibility of providing financial support by the association’s board of directors for the scientific programs and seminars organized by Homs University according to the principle of voluntary participation in services.
Prof. Houssam ElDeen stressed the university’s keenness to expand its international partnerships, indicating to the importance of these initiatives in supporting higher education and scientific research and in promoting cultural exchange between Syria and Japan.
