Diagnosing rare medical condition at the pediatric department of Homs University Hospital and publishing it in an international journal (Annals of Medicine & Surgery)
The research was entitled “Co-occurrence of fanconi bickel syndrome and CMV infection in a child, a case report” .
The study was prepared by a Syrian medical and research team, including Susan Al-Muhammad, Alaa Al-Muhammad, Sarah Jabli, Hanan Hamed, Razan Eid, and Shams Al-Ahmar, and supervised by Dr. Muhammad Samih Khalouf, Dr. Muhammad Ali Al-Abrash, Dr. Diana Al-Asmar, and Dr. Farah Abdul Nabi.
The importance of the research lies in the rarity of the condition, as Fanconi-Bickel syndrome is a very rare genetic disorder. The report highlights a rare case that coincided with a cytomegalovirus (CMV) infection, providing new insights into the diagnosis and management of this complex condition.
