834 students sat for the entrance exam for the Faculty of Architecture at Homs University.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, confirmed during his inspection tour accompanied by his deputy Prof. Ayman Kisibi that this exam is a standardized test to assess the students’ abilities in architecture and their power of observation. He added that proficiency and talent are prerequisites to pass the exam, pointing out that the university is keen to provide all exam requirements and an appropriate atmosphere for students.
Moreover, Prof. Houssam ElDeen mentioned that most students attended training courses organized by the faculty at sufficient time before the exam.
He also listened to students’ comments on the exam procedures, assuring students that the committees of arbitrators were selected from the best academics known for their integrity and transparency.
The faculty dean, Prof. Abdul Rahman Hamdoun, has explained that the test consists of three main axes: a free drawing that indicates construction and movement, scored 35 ; a free drawing of a specific shape, scored 35; and a sketch from memory, scored 30.
Furthermore, he has stated that the exam lasts four hours, and that the passing grade is 50 points or more, noting that passing this test is a prerequisite for admission sorting of the faculty.
Prof. Hamdoun confirmed that the faculty organized three training courses for students in various drawing techniques, under the supervision of specialized professors from the Faculty of Architecture.
