The Faculty of Medicine has organized a workshop on “The Fundamentals of Scientific Research” in cooperation with the student union.
The workshop included four interactive sessions that addressed the most important stages in preparing and carrying out scientific research. The sessions began with an explanation of how to choose a research idea and the types of scientific studies. They then moved on to practical training on writing a case report, followed by a session on designing cross-sectional studies. The workshop concluded with a discussion of scientific journals and the mechanism for corresponding with them to publish researches.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has indicated that the university is interested in organizing such activities to encourage students to research and develop their abilities in the areas of critical thinking and scientific analysis, emphasizing the university’s commitment to creating a stimulating research environment that supports creativity and excellence.
For his part, the faculty dean, Prof. Talal Haboush, has noted that this workshop is a practical step in preparing students to confidently enter the world of scientific research, pointing out that the faculty is constantly working to integrate the academic and practical aspects so as to qualify a generation of medical researchers capable of developing medical knowledge and serving the community.
The workshop is part of the efforts of the faculty to promote a culture of scientific research among students and develop their academic skills, contributing to the development of medical education and upgrading the research level the university.
