A doctoral dissertation entitled” Study of pythagorean and fermat numbers in the field of complex numbers and their applications in coding” was discussed by the researcher Najwa Ahmed Nujoom at the Faculty of Sciences in Al Baath University
The judging panel comprised the following professors: Prof. Muhammad Nour Shamma, Prof. Zakaria Zakaria, Prof. Mounir Makhlouf, Prof. Qusay Kanafani, and Prof. Adnan Al-Taybani.
President of Al Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, indicated to the importance of this research which combines applied mathematics and pure mathematics,especially that the dissertation is in the field of coding

The researcher pointed out that she published three researches related to the subject of the dissertation and participated with a fourth research in a conference on mathematics and its applications held at Al Furat University.
The session was attended by the university vice-president for scientific research and higher studies, Prof. Mahmoud Hadid, the head of teachers’ syndicate at the university, Prof. Abdul Razzaq Al-Sufi, a number of deans of faculties and a number of guests.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher Nagwa Ahmed Nujoom was awarded a Ph.D. in pure mathematics, with distinction and a mark 92%.
