With the aim of strengthening cooperation between educational sectors and linking the university to society, and in view of the need to implement renewable energy strategies due to their significant economic and environmental impact, Al Baath University in cooperation with Ayham Dayoub Vocational High School has installed equipment for a photovoltaic system to ensure the power supply of the network center at the university.
The university vice-president for administrative and student affairs, Prof. Nidal Sattouf, indicated that an agreement has been signed with Martyr Ayham Dayoub High School to install a photovoltaic system on the roof of the science faculty to provide power to the network center at the university. He showed that 90% of the work required in the contract has been completed so far, including the installation of panels, inverters, batteries and electrical panels, which means that the system is in the initial testing phase. He also pointed out that all the works of this contract were carried out by a group of engineers, technicians and high school students under the supervision of a group of specialized engineers from the Department of Engineering Affairs and Services and the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
Director of the Directorate of Education in Homs, Mr. Walid Al Marei, referred that the project was implemented with local technical expertise, in particular, technicians and professionals from the high school. He also indicated that this is the second cooperation between Al Baath University and the high school which has carried out several productive projects in the governorate.
It should be noted that last year, a contract was signed with the high school to maintain the solar heating system in residential unit No. /11/ in the university city. High school engineers and students rehabilitated the system and put it into operation.
