A master thesis entitled “Synthesis and characterization of new metal complexes of coumarin derivatives” was discussed by the researcher Dalal Abdul Hamid Sheikh Al-Souk at the Faculty of Science,
under the supervision of Prof. Ali Suleiman and with the participation of Prof. Khaled Al-Zober.
The judging panel comprised the following professors: Prof. Zahriah Salem, Prof. Nahla Diab, and Prof. Khaled Al-Zober.
The researcher explained that the research is to achieve a set of objectives, the most important of which are: the synthesis of a new ligand in two steps, and identifying its structure using spectra (¹³C-NMR, ¹H-NMR), (IR), and (UV-Vis)
.
In addition, she indicated that the several metal complexes [M(L)Cl₂] have been synthesized by reacting the legand with metal ions: Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), in good yield
.
At the end of the discussion, the researcher Dalal Abdul Hamid Sheikh Al-Souk was awarded a master’s degree in inorganic chemistry with distinction.
