The Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, in cooperation with the Student Union, has concluded a training course entitled“ Graduation project- the first step to enter the labor market” with the participation of 200 fifth year students.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has stressed that the university gives particular attention to the development of students’ skills and to their professional and academic qualification, indicating that such courses enable students to transform their graduation projects into a real launch for their career and enhance their capabilities in the fields of innovation, planning, and communication.
In addition, he has pointed out that the great interaction from the students reflects the spirit of initiative and seriousness of the university, emphasizing the university’s continued support for qualitative programs that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application to keep pace with labor market requirements and national development.
Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Prof. Muhammed Bakir, has pointed out that the organization of the course is part of the faculty plan to enhance the practical side of students and provide them with the skills necessary to effectively implement their projects, clarifying that the graduation project is not the end of their academic career but an entry to the labour market.
For his part, the head of the Student Union in Homs, Eng. Omar Hamam, has explained that the goal of these courses is to empower students to be the primary drivers in preparing and implementing training programs, thus enhancing their sense of initiative and responsibility. He has also emphasized the union’s commitment to supporting initiatives that make students active partners in the educational and training process, and contribute to building a generation capable of facing the challenges of the labor market with confidence and competence.
The course organizers stated that the goal is to prepare fifth-year students and enable them to understand the strategic importance of the graduation project and its role in their career.
A number of specialized professors and trainers participated in the course, including: Prof. Iyad Morani, Prof. Salah Al-Shamali, Prof. Akl Mando, Eng. Zain Odeh, Eng. Muhammed Abbas, and Prof. Tarik Harb, as they gave lectures and workshops covering the stages of implementing the graduation project.
A number of participating students have stated that the course has been an important opportunity to acquire practical skills and link academic knowledge to applied reality, expressing their thanks to the university administration, the faculty deanship, and the student union for their constant support and keenness to provide a stimulating training environment that contributes to refining skills and developing engineering capabilities.
The closing ceremony has been attended by the university’s vice president for scientific affairs, Prof. Walid Khaddam, a number of faculty deans, faculty members, and representatives of companies from the local community.
