In the presence of the university president, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, and the Director General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD), Prof. Nasser Al-Deen Obeid, a master thesis entitled ” The role of the Pistachio Extension Program in Disseminating Crop Cultivation Technologies in Hama Governorate” was discussed by the researcher Fatima Muhammed Al-Yassin at the Faculty of Agriculture, under the supervision of Prof. Talal Razouk and Prof. Muhammed Al-Abdullah.
Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen has indicated to the importance of the research in supporting the sector of Pistachio which is a strategic crop, noting that the study represents a scientific model in employing economic analysis to serve agricultural development. He has also emphasized his appreciation for the research efforts exerted by the researcher and the members of the supervisory and discussion committee.
Prof. Nasser Al-Deen Obeid has pointed out the importance of cooperation between Homs University and ACSAD organization in the field of scientific research and academic supervision, stressing that this cooperation is a practical example of the scientific partnership that aims to support the postgraduate students and provide the suitable research environment so as to achieve the goals of food and security as well as the sustainable develpoment.
Prof. Obeid has explained that their scientific efforts constitute an important step towards future creativity and development in agriculture.
The judging panel comprised of the following professors: Prof. Ibrahim Al-Sakr, Prof.Talal Razzouk, and Prof. Yusra Hasan.
During the discussion, the researcher has referred that the study aims at:
Identifying the technologies of the Pistachio Extension Program.
Measuring the level of adoption of these technologies by farmers.
Analyzing the social, economic and geographical factors influencing this adoption.
Demonstrating the role of that extension programme in promoting those technologies among farmers of Hama governorate.
At the end of the discussion, The researcher Fatima Muhammed Al-Yasin was awarded a master’s degree in agricultural engineering with a very good grade.
