CNC Machining Lab at the Department of Design and Production in the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, Homs University, is one of the qualitative and leading laboratories at the level of Syrian universities, for its advanced technical equipments and modern infrastructure contributing to linking engineering education outputs with the requirements of productive and industrial sectors. It consists of two main departments: Department of CNC Machining and Department of Reverse Engineering and Additive Manufacturing. The first department includes a complete set of high-precision CNC machines., and the second one includes high-precision 3D scanner and some 3D printers.
The university president, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, stated that the laboratory is considered an advanced model for the integration between education, scientific research and industry service, and reflects Homs University’s orientation towards developing the research and technical infrastructure and enhancing its role in supporting industrial development and innovation.
Prof. Mohammed Bakir, Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, noted that the laboratory plays a pivotal role in the educational process by training undergraduate and graduate students in modern digital manufacturing techniques and providing researchers with opportunities to implement their scientific projects and develop advanced engineering models. The laboratory’s role extends beyond the academic sphere, serving the community and the industrial sector by offering manufacturing and processing services for engineering components and spare parts.
