The Faculty of Civil Engineering held a scientific day on structural engineering in the Red Hall at the faculty, attended by faculty members, researchers, and engineers.
The Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Waleed Khadam, highlighted the university’s pivotal role in supporting scientific research and fostering effective communication between academic knowledge and practical engineering applications. He noted that structural engineering represents a primary pillar in infrastructure development, particularly given the need for innovative engineering solutions that keep pace with technical advancements and contribute to enhancing the safety and sustainability of structures, in line with modern scientific standards.
For his part, the Dean of the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Prof. Rassin Zakia, emphasized the faculty’s ongoing commitment to organizing scientific activities that highlight the latest engineering techniques and practices, providing an inclusive platform for academics and field practitioners to advance and practically apply scientific research.
On her part, the Head of the Structural Engineering Department, Prof. Ghosson Danhsh, explained that the scientific day brings together a select group of researchers to present joint research work, as well as review published Master’s and PhD research published in international journals indexed in the “Scopus” database.
She added that the event also features researchers from outside the university to exchange expertise and share research with the Engineers Syndicate, as well as all institutions and entities relevant to the engineering sector.
The program included research sessions addressing artificial intelligence applications in civil engineering, digital techniques for structural analysis, and the study of concrete structure behavior. The event concluded with the formulation of recommendations and the distribution of certificates to the participants.
