Al-Baath University participated in the activities of the thirteenth international conference of the Iraqi Mathematical Society under the slogan “Towards an advanced world, mathematics and techniques in the race to innovate”. The conference was held, in cooperation with the Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University and Al-Anwar Center for Development and Education, in Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University, Kufa , Al-Najaf Al-Ashraf, on 24-25 April 2024
Researchers from various Iraqi universities and from outside Iraq participated in the conference.
The university delegation was represented by the dean of the second faculty of education, Prof. Basil Al-Arnous.
President of Al-Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, confirmed that the thirteenth conference of the Iraqi Mathematical Society is to discuss the role of mathematics and techniques in building an advanced future, as mathematics is not just a traditional science but it is the basis for development and progress in all ( scientific or applied) fields. He also referred that we live in the era of digital transformation, so mathematics and techniques are essential to achieve development and innovation. Prof. Al Khatib indicated that we must be fully aware of the importance of integrating mathematics and techniques with all aspects of life ( industry, scientific research, or social and economic development).
Moreover, he pointed out that the participation in the conference is to find ways to promote education and research in mathematics and to exchange experiences among researchers and specialists, praising the efforts of the society in organizing such important conference .
For his part, the faculty dean, Prof. Basil Al-Arnous, stated that the participation in the conference reflects the deep interest in development that can be achieved through integrating mathematics and techniques with all aspects of life .
The conference included 22 researches (in mathematics, statistics, computers, and physics), and four scientific lectures.
Al-Baath University has participated in three researches in mathematics, and the researchers are
- Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib,
- Prof. Basil Al Arnous,
- and the master’s student Mariam Youssef Al-Mustafa under joint supervision between Al-Baath University and Al-Qadisiyah University, Iraq.
At the end of the conference, Prof. Basil Al-Arnous, at the request of the university president, handed over the shield of Al-Baath University to the President of the Iraqi Mathematical society, and received the shields of excellence and creativity.
