The Faculty of Health Sciences in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the School Health Department has started the second phase of school scoliosis screening project at Al-Baath University. President of Al-Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, has emphasized that the university supports and gives full attention to such activities in consistent with the university objectives and its linkage with the community, noting the importance of raising awareness about the seriousness of scoliosis and using the conservative therapeutic techniques to avoid surgical solutions and reduce the financial, psychological and social burden on the parents and children. Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof. Hazem Dahman, has pointed out that the faculty deanship has always sought to develop the skills of students and increase the community awareness of the significance of physiotherapy, nutrition and laboratory sciences. He has also stressed that the project is important for the early detection of the disease, so the parents early know if their child is suffering from scoliosis and prompt treatment is carried out, indicating that Al-Baath University center for physical therapy and rehabilitation provides free treatment services when scoliosis is discovered.
