Within the framework of cooperation between Homs University and the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Committee of the Engineers Syndicate – Homs Branch, a scientific lecture was held to introduce the “Building Information Modeling” methodology, presented by Eng. Bashir Al-Rifai, Eng. Raghad Safour, Eng. Hazem Safi, and Eng. Fatima Bazarkan.
The lecturers reviewed the basic principles of methodology and its most prominent applications in different project phases, from design and implementation to operation, as well as the challenges and opportunities associated with its application in the local context.
Eng. Salah Al-Shamali, head of BIM Committee at Homs Engineers Syndicate, has explained that the lecture aims to introduce graduate students to the prospects of the job market in the construction sector, highlight the optional challenges and problems , and familiarize them with the latest developments in modern technology . He has also emphasized that the BIM methodology contributes significantly to the reconstruction phase by preparing an integrated building model that includes various engineering disciplines, and enables the prediction and pretreatment of potential implementation problems , including costs, quantity calculations, and other technical aspects.
For his part, Prof. Muhammed Bakeer, the dean of the Faculty of Mechanical and Electrical Engineering, has indicated that this event is part of the faculty’s growing trend toward integrating modern digital technologies into the educational process. He has also stressed that the faculty is committed to linking the university education outcomes with the needs of the labor market and enhancing cooperation with professional and trade unions and professional bodies.
The lecture was widely attended by both students and faculty members, and there was a remarkable response to its content. This reflects the growing interest in BIM technologies as a key standard in modern architectural and engineering projects.
