123 students take the unified medical exam at Homs University
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, vice-president, Prof. Muhammed Al Masri, and the deanship of the Faculty of Medicine, inspected the first session of the unified medical exam conducted by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation for sixth-year students wishing to apply for the postgraduate admission sorting at the Faculty of Medicine in Syrian public and private universities and non-Syrian universities.
Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen pointed out that the number of applicants at Homs University center reached approximately 123 students, including 59 students from Homs University, and the rest of the students from public and private universities and non-Syrian universities. He explained that the first examination session included 120 questions in the specialties of internal medicine, dermatology, laboratory medicine, and pediatrics. The second session has been scheduled for August 14th and includes 120 questions in the fields of surgery, ophthalmology, ear, gynecology, and obstetrics.
Prof. Houssam ElDeen has indicated that the students from Syrian universities must obtain an average of 60% to succeed and can be assisted with 2 marks. He has also added that graduates from non-Syrian universities have to take the unified medical exam for certificate equivalence and that the average success rate is 50%.
