As part of developing clinical skills and supporting continuing medical education, a training workshop titled “Ultrasound guided thoracentesis procedures and chest tube placement” was held at Homs University, under the supervision of Dr. Ragheed Turkmani, a specialist in pulmonary diseases.
The workshop targeted 20 resident doctors specialized in internal medicine and general medicine, and lasted for four hours.
The workshop focused on the theoretical aspects of thoracentesis and chest tube placement, and the use of echo to guide interventions. A practical section was devoted to developing participants’ manual skills using high-quality simulation mannequins.
The workshop concluded with a scientific discussion of the most prominent potential complications and their effective clinical management.
This workshop is part of a series of activities aimed at raising the efficiency of medical personnel and enhancing their ability to provide advanced, quality healthcare.
