The Faculty of Architecture has held an exhibition of fourth-year students’ projects in the interior architecture course with the participation of 36 student projects which reflect the students’ advanced level of creativity and practicality.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has indicated to the importance of this exhibition in promoting design thinking among students, noting that such activities are essential in the university academic vision which seeks to integrate theoretical education with practical application. In addition, he has explained that the projects reflect the students’ seriousness and advanced skills, and assert the development of architectural education at the faculty.
For his part, the faculty dean, Prof.Abdul Rahman Hamdoun, has pointed out that these projects played a pivotal role in the students’ engagement in practical life through direct communication with carpenters. He has also added that five distinguished projects have been selected and implemented within the traditional and daily crafts workshop at the faculty, using various mechanisms that reflect a diversity of design and manufacturing methodologies. Furthermore, he has referred that the focus of these projects on parametric furniture represents a modern and innovative trend in the world of furniture, given its effective role in reducing manufacturing waste and presenting flexibile and practical designs applicable in various environments.
Student Aya Diab has noted that the exhibition provided an opportunity to exchange views with colleagues and professors, adding a constructive critical dimension to the work. Moreover, she has explained that the diversity of projects demonstrated diverse abilities and multiple design styles, reflecting each student’s personality and understanding of academic principles.
Student Batoul Bitar has stated that participating in the project provided her with new experience and helped her translate her theoretical ideas into tangible models. She has noted that the teamwork and discussions within the workshops contributed significantly to the project’s development.
The two-day exhibition is part of a series of academic events organized by the faculty, aiming to hone students’ design skills and enhance architecture as a tool for expression and creativity in serving the community.
