Homs University honored a group of its distinguished students in recognition of their outstanding achievements in scientific and intellectual competitions at the regional and national levels, which culminated in qualification for prestigious competitive events at the global level. The ceremony was attended by the Dean of the Faculty of Informatics Engineering, Prof. Muhammad Naif Al-Haj Younes, and the Students’ Union representative, Mr. Muhammad Hamami.
The honoring included awarding certificates of appreciation to the “Moz on Tree” team, which won the bronze medal in the Middle East and North Africa Regional Championship (ACPC), and officially qualified to participate in the International Collegiate Programming Contest (ICPC) finals.
The team included coach Moussa Sioufi, and students: Ahmed Al-Hajj Yahya, Antoine Dabbous, and Ahmed Al-Hussein.
The honoring also included the Homs University Debating Team, in recognition of achieving third place in the Syrian Debat Championship. The team consisted of the students: Haidera Samir Muhammad, Hanin Muhammad Al-Sheikh Khalil, and Shahd Ahmad Shana’a, in addition to honoring the training and refereeing staff represented by Muhammad Zahrawi and Amr Hamdan, in recognition of their efforts in preparing the team and enhancing its competitive presence.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam El-Deen, clarified that the honoring reflects the excellence of the university’ students and their high capacity to compete and innovate in various intellectual and scientific fields, emphasizing that the university considers such achievements as the fruit of a supportive and stimulating academic environment for excellence. He also pointed out its continuous efforts to provide all forms of academic, technical and moral support to students so that they can optimally represent Syria internationally and globally.
For his part, Prof. Rabie Shaheen, the coordinator of the local programming competition at Homs University, pointed out that the results achieved by the university’s students in the international programming competition reflect the continuous development of programming training
.
This honoring comes within the framework of Homs University’s strategy aimed at supporting academic excellence, documenting the achievements of its student, and encouraging active participation in local and international scientific and intellectual competitions, which contributes to enhancing the university’s position and academic presence.
