President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, inspected the second session of the unified national medical exam organized by the National Authority for Quality Assurance and Accreditation for the sixth-year students and those wishing to apply for postgraduate studies in the faculties of medicine at Syrian public and private universities, in addition to non-Syrian universities.
Prof. Houssam ElDeen explained that the exam included 120 questions in the field of surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, and eye and ear diseases, indicating that the number of students who took the exam reached (119) students at Homs University center, (59) students from Homs University, and (60) students from private universities.
He has also stressed that this exam session does not include graduates of the 2024/2025 from public and private universities, as the provisions of Higher Education Council resolution No. 194 of June 22, 2025 will be implemented.
It’s worth noting that the passing grade for the unified written medical exam for Syrian university students is 60%, with the possibility of receiving exam assistance of only two marks. The unified written medical exam score is used as the basis for calculating the sixth-year average. Graduates of non-Syrian universities are required to obtain 50% for the certificate equivalence, and 60% for the admission sorting of higher studies.
The university vice-president, Prof. Muhammed Al Masri, and the deanship of the Faculty of Medicine, participated in the observation tour.
