As part of the “Recovery” campaign launched by doctors from around the world to support the healthcare sector in Syria, Homs University Hospital welcomed a British team of 42 doctors from various specialties.
During the visit, distinguished surgeries were performed with the participation of the hospital’s resident doctors, scientific lectures were delivered, and dozens of patients were examined in specialized clinics and provided with comprehensive consultations.
According to the statistics issued by the hospital, during the period from Sunday to Thursday, the doctors examined 199 patients for orthopedic surgery, 47 patients for allergies and asthma, 104 patients for dermatosis, 94 patients for neurological disease , 47 patients for kidney diseases, 37 patients for pulmonary diseases, and 65 patients for heart diseases.
In addition, there were 10 knee replacement surgeries , 11 hand surgeries, 5 surgeries to correct congenital abnormalities, and 5 surgeries to treat bone loss.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has indicated that the team’s visit is an important step toward strengthening the hospital’s position as a leading academic medical center, noting that the engagement of local doctors with international experts in such campaigns opens new horizons for practical training and expertise exchange. He has also emphasized that the university continues to expand its international partnerships to serve the community and raise the level of medical education and scientific research.
For his part, the Director of the University Hospital, Prof. Fahd Shreibati, has explained that this visit had a significant impact on developing academic work and exchanging expertise between doctors in Homs and university hospital and Syrian doctors living abroad, adding that many specialized surgeries have been performed with advanced logistical means.
At the end of the visit, the administration of Homs University Hospital thanked the medical team for their outstanding efforts and humanitarian contributions, affirming its continued commitment to pursuing such unique initiatives that enhance healthcare services and develop healthcare sector in Syria.
