The Higher Institute of Languages at Homs University has organized remedial courses in English and German, and proofreading for the academic year 2025-2026 , with the aim of improving students’ language proficiency and developing their skills in line with the requirements of the labor market.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has indicated that organizing remedial courses is part of the university’s commitment to develop the students’language skills, clarifying that such courses are to support the training programmes which upgrade the academic and professional level of students.
The institute dean, Prof. Muhammed Riad Al-Ali has pointed out that the institute has organized English courses for beginners and intermediate levels and that courses for advanced level are to be run. In addition, he has noted that the duration of the course is forty hours distributed over about two and a half months and that the course focuses on all basic skills, especially the skill of conversation and practical communication.
Prof. Al-Ali has stated that the registration is open to all students inside and outside the university, noting that these courses contribute to enhancing communication skills and developing confidence in using the language, and emphasizing that the students will receive certificate that qualify them to move to a higher level and enter the labor market
The trainee students have referred to the importance of these courses in developing language skills and improving their conversation and listening skills, stressing that the practical aspect of training contributes to enhancing their confidence in using the language in everyday life, study and work situations.
In addition to English language courses, the institute currently offers German language courses and a specialized course in Arabic language proofreading. The institute plans to launch additional courses in other languages, such as Italian, French, and Turkish, as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance students’ proficiency and prepare them linguistically and professionally.
