Homs University Hospital has witnessed the openness of specialized and advanced medical departments, as part of the activities of the “Syria Recovery 2026 for Healthcare” conference, which is organized by the Ministries of Health and Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with the “MedGlobal” organization and the Syrian Medical Syndicate, under the slogan “Together from Recovery to Development”.
There have been established, interventional cardiac catheterization, neurosurgery, ophthalmic surgery, bronchoscopy, endoscopic surgery, and stroke rehabilitation, after equipping them with the latest medical devices and technologies, which contributes to developing services provided to patients and enhancing specialized medical training in the hospital. Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Marwan Al-Halabi, affirmed that the development of these departments comes within the framework of cooperation with the MedGlobal organization to support the health sector and modernize the medical infrastructure in teaching hospitals. He also noted that the conference represents a partnership between the Ministries of Higher Education and Health, the syndicate, and international partners, with the aim of promoting scientific and applied research and linking educational outcomes to the needs of the health sector. The President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, explained that the opening of these departments represents an important step in the development of medical and educational services at the university hospital, pointing out that the modern equipment will provide an advanced environment for healthcare and practical training for resident physicians and medical students. For his part, Prof. Fahd Shuraibati, Director of Homs University Hospital, affirmed that the opening of the Interventional Cardiac Catheterization Department represents a significant addition to the hospital’s services, contributing to meeting patients’ needs and developing specialized medical training. In addition, he emphasized the hospital’s importance as a leading health and educational center in the central region. The opening ceremony was attended by the Governor of Homs, the Deputy Ministers of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Head of the Syrian Medical Association, the Vice Presidents and Secretary of Homs University, the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and a number of directors of health and academic institutions, as well as Syrian experts and physicians from both inside and outside the country.
