Homs University participated in the “NAS TEX 2026” International Exhibition for Textile and Furniture Industries, which was held in the Damascus Fairgrounds, by showcasing its equipment and projects in the fields of education, training and entrepreneurship, within the participation of more than 300 companies from 20 countries.
The university’s participation took place through two pavilions: the first was within the pavilion of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, featuring equipment and testing devices belonging to the Department of Textile Engineering, and the second was dedicated to entrepreneurship and training, containing 17 participating projects from various parts of Syria, including three projects from the Textile Engineering Department at Homs University that qualified for “Al-Nassaj” competition, where the teams presented their work before a judging panel consisting of investors in order to secure support and marketing opportunities.
The university’s pavilion was visited by the wife of the President of the Republic, the Minister of Health, the Director of the Hassia Industrial City, the Head of the Syrian Investment Authority, and a number of investors, who reviewed the university’s projects and equipment in the fields of education, training, and entrepreneurship.
The President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, emphasized that the university’s participation comes within its orientation to link higher education outputs with the needs of the industrial sector, and to support innovation and entrepreneurship. He pointed out that the Textile Engineering Department at Homs University is the only department in Syria taught within the Faculty of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, which contributes to preparing specialized cadres capable of competing locally and internationally.
The Head of the Textile Engineering Department at Homs University, Prof. Ghazal Tahmaz, explained that the participating projects are among the distinguished graduation projects selected from the department’s projects, with the aim of introducing investors to the students’ capabilities and opening horizons to transform their ideas into productive projects.
