The forum “Your Academic Destination 2” has been launched under the auspices of Homs University, organized by the Students’ Union in cooperation with the Youth Affairs Institution at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, to be an interactive and guiding forum which represents the first step for students to choose their university specializations confidently and become familiar with the available academic and professional choices.
The President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, confirmed that the first step toward success is choosing the right specialization, indicating that the forum opens a window into university life through various specializations, presenting them with real options to achieve their ambitions. He stressed that students’ future deserves informed decisions based on knowledge, not randomness. For his part, the President of the Students’ Union, Abdul Hamid Al-Jandali, explained that the forum’s importance lies in the significance of choosing a university discipline. He indicated that the appropriate choice is usually subject to several criteria, including desire, ambition, passion, and the job market. He added that a new criterion should be included: the nation’s need for our qualified individuals. For his part, the Director of Youth Affairs in Homs, Mr. Muhammad Jabr, pointed out that students today face the most important challenge of their lives, urging them to choose what suits them, not what others dictate, and to ask themselves about the impact they will have on their country. The forum includes a central pavilion featuring awareness lectures and specialized lectures, individual consultations, recreational and sporting activities, and a competition. The first day of the forum witnessed a large turnout, with approximately 600 students registering via a unique QR code linked to their chosen activities. The forum continues for three days: Wednesday, September 23, Thursday, September 24, and Saturday, September 26, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The opening ceremony was attended by a representative of the Violet Organization, the forum’s sponsor in Syria, the Director of Education in Homs, the Director of Culture in Homs, and a number of officials and academics.
