The Faculty of Medicine at Homs University , in cooperation with Afak Al-Khair Foundation, organized a scientific awareness symposium titled “Intravenous Nutrition in Children and Newborns” as part of the faculty’s efforts to promote health awareness and exchange medical expertise with local and international institutions.
The symposium included a lecture delivered by Dr. Lial Alwaer, a consultant at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in the United Kingdom. The scientific lecture addressed the latest medical concepts related to intravenous nutrition for newborns, focusing on global standards and clinical challenges in critical cases.
For his part, the faculty dean, Prof. Talal Haboush, has explained that this symposium ia part of the faculty’s vision to enhance the cognitive skills of students, particularly graduate students, by exploring scientific developments and global advancements in pediatric and neonatal care.
The Director of Homs University Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Samih Khalouf, indicated that the symposium provided an explanation of the most prominent methods used in intravenous nutrition for children, in terms of materials and methods of use. He also noted that the application of these methods has a positive impact on intensive care patients and children, by improving their health

The symposium was attended by faculty members, medical staff, and students, and included a scientific discussion session that contributed to consolidating modern medical concepts in this field.
