On the occasion of international women’s day, the second Faculty of Education organized a panel discussion titled “Promoting the culture of women’s empowerment” at the Faculty of Agriculture.
President of Al-Baath University, Prof. Abdul Basit Al Khatib, indicated that the women’s empowerment has become one of the most important development requirements and a necessity to unleash the full potential of society. He also pointed out that many efforts have been made to change laws and systems for empowering women socially, economically, politically and culturally. Prof. Al Khatib highlighted the great role of women in all fields and the need to strengthen their participation in various sectors.
The secretary of B.A.S.P branch at the university, Prof. Fayeq Shadood, said that Syria has been one of the leading countries in the field of women’s empowerment, indicating that Syrian women have resisted alongside men and become a symbol of strength. He also added that the mothers of the Syrian martyrs are an example of struggle and sacrifice. Moreover, he thanked the First Lady of Syria Asma Al Assad who truly represents the icon of the Arab woman of whom we are proud

The symposium was attended by Prof. Adnan Sheikh Hammoud and Prof. Zuhoor Abdul Hadi, the members of party leadership at the university branch, deans of faculties, and a crowd of interested people.
