The Faculty of Dentistry welcomed a group of students from the Islamic Orphanage of the Islamic Charitable Society, to attend an educational lecture on preventive dentistry. They also received comprehensive medical examinations at the faculty’s clinics.
The lecture was delivered by a number of dental faculty students, who provided a detailed explanation of oral and dental health care, emphasizing the importance of prevention and maintaining long-term dental health. They also conducted comprehensive examinations of the children at the faculty’ s clinics to assess their health and provide them with appropriate medical advice.
Dr. Iyad Zaid, the event supervisor, pediatric dentist, and the professor of preventive oral medicine, explained that the goal of the activity was to enhance children’s awareness of the basics of preventing dental diseases, particularly cavities. He pointed out that the lecture focused on the basics of oral hygiene and healthy eating habits, in a manner appropriate to the targeted age group (6 to 8 years old).
In addition, he indicated that a distinguished elite of the faculty students participated in giving the lecture and succeeded in providing health information in a simple and interactive way, enhancing the children’s understanding and learning. He also noted that this experience developed the students’ skills in communication and health awareness.
For his part, Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Dr. Qusay Al-Munjed, has emphasized the importance of these initiatives in promoting health awareness among children, noting that the university’s role is not limited to academic education, but extends to include effective contributions to community service.
