President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, and the university vice-presidents have received the Director-General of the Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (ACSAD),Prof. Nasser Al-Deen Al-Obeid, and his accompanying delegation, within the framework of strengthening scientific and research cooperation between the two sides.
At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen has indicated that the university gives a particular attention to the activation of the agreement signed with ACSAD organization to be inclusive of all scientific and applied aspects, referring that the cooperation aims to commence common applied and development projects and benefit from the practical and research expertise of the two sides, in particular the employment of artificial intelligence in scientific research and sustainable development.
In addition, he has added that the university has outstanding scientific capacity and is open to the exchange of experiences with ACSAD organization in respect of the agricultural sector and applied research, stressing the importance of university’s participation in the medical conferences and mutual projects for promoting its role in the support of national development.
For his part, Prof. Nasser Al-Deen Al-Obeid has indicated that ACSAD organization is the only organization working in Syria and is keen to expand the fields of cooperation with Homs University by activating the present agreement and developing a common executive program that supports the research laboratories and higher studies projects in university, especially in the Faculty of Agriculture.
Furthermore, he has emphasized the importance of utilizing the educational farm in the faculty in carrying out the scientific researches and implementing common projects, commending the scientific expertise of the university’s cadres and experts which contributes to developing the research work in the agricultural and development fields.
The meeting concluded with stressing the significance of constant cooperation between the two sides in developing new projects in the fields of sustainable agriculture, artificial intelligence and higher studies in a manner that promotes the integration of academic experience and applied research and serves the development in Syria and the region.
