The Technical Institute for Badia and desertification Affairs at Homs University, in cooperation with the Homs Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management, conducted specialized practical training in firefighting as part of the institute’s summer training camp program for its students. The training focused on familiarizing students with the fundamentals of firefighting, starting with classifying fire types, their causes, and methods of control, up to practical applications using dry powder extinguishers and handling domestic gas cylinder fires, all under the supervision of specialized personnel from the Emergency Directorate.
The training was attended by Prof. Jihad Mohammad Agha, Director of the Institutes Directorate, and Baibars Mishaal, Director of the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management in Homs, alongside members of the teaching staff and the institute’s students.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam , affirmed that applied programs represent a fundamental aspect in developing the educational process, due to the practical experiences they provide that contribute to enhancing students’ readiness, appreciating the existing cooperation between the institute and the Emergency Directorate.
Mr. Mohammad Al-Hammoud, Head of the Empowerment Department at the Directorate of Emergency and Disaster Management in Homs, explained that the training aims to provide students with essential knowledge regarding fire prevention and the mechanisms for handling them in accordance with approved safety procedures.
