As part of the “Recovery” campaign launched by doctors from around the world to support the healthcare sector in Syria, Homs University Hospital welcomed a British team of 42 doctors from various specialties to perform specialized surgeries and provide advanced medical consultations in the fields of general surgery, pediatric surgery, cardiac surgery and interventional catheterization, orthopedics, ophthalmology, complex spine surgery, urology, and plastic surgery.
Medical consultations are provided daily from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, allowing patients to benefit from international expertise and medical staff to receive practical training in the latest therapeutic practices.
President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, has emphasized that hosting the medical team reflects the university’s commitment to supporting continuing medical education and providing a scientific environment that keeps pace with global developments. He has also noted that international cooperation is a fundamental pillar for developing academic programs, enriching curricula, and linking theoretical education with practical application. Moreover, he has stressed that It opens up horizons for building future research partnerships to produce joint research of scientific value.
For his part, the Director of the University Hospital, Prof. Fahd Shreibati, has explained that the participation of British doctors represents an opportunity to exchange expertise and transfer knowledge to local cadres, contributing to enhancing the skills of resident physicians and improving approved treatment protocols.
The campaign is being implemented under the auspices of the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, in cooperation with Action for Humanity. It also represents a qualitative step toward developing education and healthcare services and strengthening the university’s position as a leading scientific center.
