Homs University, represented by the university vice-president for students and administrative affairs, Prof. Ayman Kseibi, has participated in the regional workshop organized by the regional office of the Francophone University Agency in the Middle East in cooperation with the Cyprus Foreign Ministry, under the title “Mediation as a control tool for conflict prevention and management ” that has lasted from 9 to 11 December 2025.
The workshop workshop has come as part of the ongoing mediation activities provided by the Regional Directorate of the Francophone University Agency to develop the capacities of university academics especially those who may be involved in mediation activities within universities.
It has focused on promoting the scientific and occupational awareness on mediation concepts and developing the skills of positive communication and active listening, contributing to spreading the culture of peace and constructive dialogue in universities and strengthening the role of the universities as active institutions in preventing and managing conflicts in peaceful ways.
Prof. Ayman Kseibi has emphasized the importance of integrating the concepts of mediation in the daily university work, noting that developing the relevant academics’skills is a pillar of enhancing institutional stability and creating an educational environment based on dialogue and respect for differences.
Furthermore, he has explained that the participation of the university in such activities is in line with its orientation towards academic openness and exchange of expertise with international universities and institutions.
The workshop has been attended by 37 participants from Cyprus, Egypt, Ethiopia, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, and Yemen, which provided a rich opportunity to exchange experiences and academic expertise in the field of mediation and conflict management within the university context.
