President of Homs University, Prof. Tarek Houssam ElDeen, inaugurated an exhibition entitled “Syria: A Story Not Told… But Lived” organized by the Faculty of Tourism in cooperation with the Students’ Union, on Wednesday, 17 December 2025.
The opening ceremony was attended by the university vice-presidents, Prof. Walid Khaddam and Prof. Ayman Kseibi, representatives from the Homs Tourism Directorate, members of the teaching and administrative staff, and a crowd of students and those interested in tourism and culture.
The exhibition included seven interactive sections reflecting the diversity of Syrian identity and the richness of its cultural heritage:
A Story Woven in Fabric: Traditional and folk costumes from various Syrian governorates.
Here Stones Speak from the Land of Civilization: A presentation of ancient Syrian civilizations and their archaeological heritage.
Tourism and Travel Companies: An introduction to tourism-related specializations and available offerings.
What Cannot Be Said Is Felt: A sensory experience linking tourism to the five senses through music, textiles, and tourist sites.
Hotels Section: A display highlighting major Syrian hotels and the development of the hotel sector.
Restaurants Section: Live tasting and hospitality featuring Syrian cuisine.
The Flavor of the East on a Plate: Authentic Syrian dishes expressing diversity and flavors.
Prof. Houssam ElDeen emphasized that the exhibition is not merely a student activity, but rather a living scene that embodies the deeply rooted spirit of Syria in collective memory and conscience. He noted that the Faculty of Tourism, in cooperation with the Students’ Union, succeeded in transforming the Syrian story into a lived experience—engaged through the senses and conveyed through image, sound, and flavor. He further stressed that the university takes pride in this collective effort, which reflects a profound sense of belonging and highlights the role of the university as a beacon of culture, creativity, and openness to society.
